Appendix G Recipe: Assigned SHW System Error

Hello all,

The Appendix G recipe is turning red after failing to run the proposed model. Initially I thought it was due the HVAC system (due to various severe warnings during sizing), but it seems that something related to SHW/DHW is the culprit. This is the error message:

The screenshots are from a run I tried without any SHW systems assigned as a test. The recipe also failed when the zones were assigned electric resistance and HPWHs. I’ve confirmed we have a hot water scheduled to all assigned zones.

What is interesting is that I did get results from the ‘ModelToOSM’ component, which maybe means this is a bug?

Thanks,

Vitor

Hi @vitorleiteg, thank you for creating this new topic. Can you share the full log with us? You can find the file inside the folder that you ran the study.

@mostapha Thank you for being so active. The quick replies are truly appreciated! Please see logs attached.

Hi, just to add that this error is not specific to the Appendix G recipe. Same error happened with the annual energy use recipe.

I’ve tried running the ‘appendix_g_sample’ file and I got a similar problem

"Solution exception:2026-09-30 20:08:24 ERROR: “RunProposedSimulation” failed. See below for more information:

Assigned template HVAC: FCU_DOAS_Enthalpy_Wheel"

Is there the possibility something is wrong with my Pollination install?

Hi @vitorleiteg, I haven’t had a chance to check the logs, but can you share your Pollination or Honeybee model with us?

Of course. Not sure if I’m uploading the right files or not, but please see attached. I’m also attaching my GH file with all relevant geometry internalized.

Thanks, @vitorleiteg .

I am not able to recreate the error on my end. The recipe executes successfully as does a regular old energy simulation with the LBT-Grasshopper Model To OSM component.

From the logs you uploaded, I can see that this is the explanation for the error:

[openstudio.osversion.VersionTranslator] <Warn> Version extracted from file '3.11.0' is one increment ahead of OpenStudio Version 3.10.0. Proceeding as if these versions are the same. Use with caution.

So it looks like you are running the recipe with a newer version of our core libraries, which export OSMs to version 3.11 but the version of OpenStudio that you have installed it 3.10. I am not sure how you ended up with this (were you using the LB Versioner at some point in the last few months?) But I can tell you that it should be fixed if you download and install the latest Pollination single-click installer.
