How does the Model Editor import true vs project north from Revit, and are these settings managed through the Model Editor or through Revit?
I have noticed while trying to import from a mechanical model and linked architectural model from the same project that the import orientations are different, though the project information in the Model Editor does reflect the correct north orientation when attempting to import from Revit individually.

The location information is still WIP and is not linked to any of the exporters. For now, you need to change the north value after importing the GEM file to IESVE. That said, these are great questions and are helpful as we develop this feature.
The location information is imported in Model Editor from Revit the first time that the Model Editor. @mingbo will correct me but we currently don’t watch the changes inside Revit to update the location inside the Model Editor automatically.
Hmm. My understanding is that we always load the information from the host model and not the linked model. Shouldn’t the location information between the architecture model and the linked model be the same?
Understood - thank you. My initial thought (though I understand you’re developing a solution that works best for most/every project) is that importing true north would minimize any potential orientation confusion.
Yes, agreed. That’s why I ask the question because my experience has been otherwise. I am looking into this further with my BIM implementation team and will report back with any notable discoveries.
@Mostapha, after further investigation, I did find a difference in ‘Project North’ between the Architectural and Mechanical models. The import to Pollination seems to use ‘Project North’ as opposed to ‘True North’, at least that would explain the differences in orientation and resolves this issue and clarifies my understanding of the import functionality.
