Hi! I am wondering what the auto zoning command does? I can’t find an explanation anywhere besides the one you get when you hover - which isn’t making sense to me. I tried to use it but nothing happened. I think it probably has to do with the “Re-pollinate” feature you were talking about in the release notes for version 3, but not 100% sure. I am an IES user so seems like it might still be in the works. Anyways, let me know!
Hi @rileyrenner,
You guessed it mostly correctly. It will be more meaningful once we expose the utilities to assign program types to the model. You can then use the command to quickly set the thermal zones based on story, orientation, and program type. You can also use it without program type but it might not be as helpful. Here is a short recording that shows the process.
This will be its own challenge. Since even after we assign the zones in Pollination, they will get lost in our current workflow using the GEM file format. We need to start developing a more comprehensive workflow to make this useful for IESVE user. But it should work for EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, eQuest, and TRACE export.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
