Copy Rooms from Link not working

I am trying to use the “Copy Rooms from Link” button, but nothing seems to happen when I press OK. I have tried both checking on and off the “is Room Bounding” box. The question mark on the tool also seems to not be responding. I’m not sure if I am doing something wrong or if the tool just isn’t currently working.

:waving_hand: Hi @jsanchez7, welcome to the forum!

I just tested it again and it worked for me. It should copy all the rooms from the linked model into the host model.

Can you check the logs and see if there are any issues? You should find a line similar to this line:

2026-10-29 13:06:28.594 -04:00 [INF] Pollination.Revit.App | Copy Rooms ended.

The logs are under %appdata%\pollination\logs. Sort them by date modified, and open the one for today.

I am getting the following error:

2026-10-29 12:31:51.540 -05:00 \[ERR\] Pollination.Revit.App | \[Pollination Error\]
Autodesk.Revit.Exceptions.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: level

at Autodesk.Revit.Creation.Document.NewRoom(Level level, UV point)
at Pollination.Revit.Commands.CopyRoomsCommand.Execute(ExternalCommandData commandData, String& message, ElementSet elements)

Thank you! Let’s see if @ksobon can guess what might be going wrong from the error message.

Is it possible for you to share the Revit models with us for testing?

Otherwise, unfortunately, you have to export the rooms separately from the separate models and then merge them together inside the Model Editor.

Hi @jsanchez7,

@ksobon looked into the error message and this might have happened for a few reasons:

  1. The host model doesn’t have any Levels. Levels only exist in the linked models.
  2. There is no level in the host model that has the same name as the level in the linked model. We ignore case, but the names need to match.
  3. There is no level in the host model that has the same elevation as the level from the linked model. This is pretty forgiving as it will just return a level that is the closest. It doesn’t need an exact match. It will use a 2ft tolerance.

Based on these restrictions, my guess is that your host model doesn’t have any levels. All levels are in the link model, and we cannot create a Room in the host without a valid Level. Can you add the levels in the host model?

In the next release, we will automate this step to create the missing levels with user permission, so you don’t have to do this manually.
