Context is I’ve been running Rhino 7, but now have also added Rhino 8, and am trying to get that environment to work like my Rhino 7 does. (mostly concerned with GH plugins). So I ran the installer, and first tried to only install to Rhino 8…installer hung. And it borked my Pollination plugin in Rhino 7. Next I tried to re-run and install on both Rhinos…that’s when I get this message.
Not that I think this is the actual problem, but is it strange that the “TargetDir” in that message looks mostly like a Win path, but has that one forward slash in it? Assuming that’s just a “typo.”
Thanks in advance for any thoughts and/or commiseration! I’ll reinstall both Rhinos clean if it comes to it. Didn’t have anything else to do tonight:)
You should have probably just waited for the installer to finish. It takes some time to install all the dependencies, and it may look like the installer is not doing anything but it’s installing all the Ladybug Tools dependencies.
The installer logs should tell you what might be going on. You can find it under %TEMP% folder. Search for a file that is named installbuilder_installer_{a-number}.log for example: installbuilder_installer_19444.log
On one of my attempts I waited for an hour or two for the progress bar after it stopped at maybe 15%, before killing the installation process. But inspired by your reply, I did my due diligence and power cycled before diving into log files. Installation proceeded cleanly for both rhinos after powering back up, and I still have never looked at the logs. But now I know they exist for next time!
