Hello community,
Like the last few years, we will be teaching a couple of workshops as part of the AEC Tech event. This year we will only be teaching two virtual workshops.
Both workshops are on Friday, OCTOBER 18th.
Upgrading from Legacy and What’s New in Ladybug Tools for Grasshopper - 10:00 am - 1:00 pm US Eastern Time
The first workshop focuses on covering the topics for upgrading from legacy plugins, and covering what’s new in Ladybug Tools Grasshopper plugins.
This workshops is similar to the one that we taught earlier this year in London. @chriswmackey will lead the workshop, and I will be in the support role. It is designed for users with intermediate and advanced knowledge of Grasshopper and Ladybug Tools. Particularly, if you are in charge of developing and maintaining Ladybug Tools scripts for your office, and your customers, this workshop is for you!

In this workshop, we cover the core improvements in the new LBT plugins in comparison to the legacy plugins. We review several examples of legacy scripts and update them to the latest version of the Ladybug Tools while discussing the overall improvements in the implementation and workflows.
We also cover the new possibilities for developing your own components, running the scripts outside of Grasshopper, and taking advantage of Pollination for running your daylight, energy, and comfort simulations on the cloud after updating your recipes.
This workshop is designed for users with intermediate and advanced knowledge of Grasshopper and Ladybug Tools. Particularly, if you are in charge of developing and maintaining Ladybug Tools scripts for your office, and your customers, this workshop is for you!
If you have no prior experience with Ladybug Tools but still would like to attend, we strongly recommend you watch the Ladybug Tools Academy videos: Introduction | Ladybug Tools Academy
Large parametric environmental studies using Ladybug Tools and Pollination - 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm US Eastern Time
This workshop is an opportunity for us to share the recent work that we have been doing to improve the overall user experience for running large-scale parametric studies using Ladybug Tools and Pollination.
We will start with setting up smaller studies like the one that I covered in this video, and get very specific about running larger studies on Pollination. We kept this workshop limited to 10 attendees so we can get into the details of how to set up large studies effectively based on our learnings from helping many Pollination customers run their studies during the last few years.
If you have experience using Colibri and Ladybug Legacy Fly components to generate studies that can be visualized on DesignExplorer this workshop can help you get to the next level.

In this workshop, we’ll dive deep into the powerful new Pollination Fly components, comparing them to the legacy Ladybug and Colibri versions.
We’ll guide you through streamlined workflows and set up several parametric studies. Using Ladybug Tools and Pollination plugins in tandem, you’ll learn how to run, post-process, and visualize results effectively.
We’ll cover best practices for scaling your studies from hundreds to thousands of iterations. Plus, get a sneak peek at our new DesignExplorer-like Pollination app! The workshop will cover running studies both locally and on the Pollination cloud infrastructure.
Who should attend: This workshop is designed for intermediate and advanced Grasshopper and Ladybug Tools users. As a pre-requisite, we recommend watching this video for a solid foundation in the core concepts: https://youtu.be/X7hrUg71scE?si=4jp-Pdt3Vyx4vcw8
There also several other great workshops that you can attend. See the full list of the workshops here.

FAQ
Where can I buy the tickets?
Try this link.
Do I need to have a Pollination subscription to attend the workshops?
No. If necessary, we will provide free access to Pollination resources during the workshop.
Will the workshops be recorded?
I don’t promise but the workshops will most likely be recorded and will be uploaded on Thornton Tomasetti’s YouTube channel a couple of months after the event. At least this is what has happened during the last few years.
