Roof linked models lose proper position?

Hello,

I bring a doozie of a problem to attention with this one.
On more than one occasion, it seems pollination has trouble seeing roof elements when bringing an architectural model into my mechanical model for any year of revit.

My Spaces were still in proper shape, but my roof elements seems to be messed up.
I know it helps when I provide a detached model, but this one seems harder to do that simply. I will try to provide some things..

Is it possible to move a shade/roof snapshot to align with the respective space geometry? Is this from the linked models having different base points? Not sure what causes this bug.

Cheers,

Hi @josiahfce,

Thank you for documenting the issue with proper details as always!

This looks like a bug. We must be missing some coordination vectors between the linked model and the host model. Is it possible for you to share the Revit models with us to replicate the issue on our end? You can email the link to me directly if you don’t want to share the Revit model on Discourse.

We already have one model with a similar issue but it is always to have more than one model for testing. Thanks in advance!

Hi @mostapha,

I’ve packaged a detached model that should have a site plan looking like this image:

I’m emailing you Drive link of the zipped file for sake of size.

Hope you can recreate the issue for misplaced roofs and have another example model to get down to the solution.

Cheers,

Thank you for sharing the model with us, @josiahfce!

This is now fixed in the upcoming release (v2.295.2).

I shared the installer with you via email. Give it a try whenever you get a chance and let me know if you see any issues.

Hi @mostapha !!

This one is considered fixed! Thank you for the updated roof coordination.

I have a QOL request…
I’ve noticed (especially on multiple arch links) that we need to select each link at each phase of the pollination export interface.

Would it be possible to set active links once for all exports? (5 if you count shades and room data)

Here are some screenshots of what I’m trying to callout.
I realize your development team likely has a good reason for needing to select at each stage. So I just wanted to share my curiosities.

Thanks!

Model? (I haven’t been using this at all. Perhaps I need to brush up on my workflow developed for pollination exports) OH! After going through this button, looks like we are able to export the snapshot model? So nothing necessary here.

I wanted to update with my screenshot including all the coordinated roofing and shading.

Thanks again!

Hi @josiahfce,

This is how it used to be. We used to have a single Link Manager to manage all the linked models in one UI.

We mainly changed it because we realized unless you exactly knew which file contains what, it was hard to select them before opening the specific menu. In addition, loading all the data from all the resources could introduce an unnecessary overhead in larger models. This is why we decided to breakdown the UI and let the user pick the linked models when they need them in each category. By moving them to the separate menu, you can quickly see the objects that gets loaded, and decide if you want to keep or change your selection.

That said, we will have much more flexibility in Revit plugin V3. We can experiment with ideas like this to make the overall process easier. I’m adding @mingbo here so he is aware of the request.

As always, thank you so much for sharing your feedback!

Hi @mostapha ,

I appreciate the explanation. It makes sense to have the links able to be specifically selected.

Best Wishes!
