Roof shows up as shades and does not get transferred as part of the top story

Hi Mostapha,

I have gone through multiple threads here talking about Roof and Revit Plugin and so far the way I have setup the model looks correct, but I might be missing something.

I modeled the top level as “Full Volume”. Within the Model Editor, the roof shows up in the “Roof” section on the left and you can preview it, however it gets reported as a “shade” within Pollination. I am using the most recent version of pollination. I have attached the picture for clarification. Any idea why this might be happening?

Thanks!

Hi @sramas, we handle the roofs as part of the extruded mode. There is no need to use the full volume option. Can you share the final level with me? I can quickly record a video with you that shows how to fix it. We have made several improvements to the roof editing features in the Model Editor but haven’t released them yet. We will do it in the next few days.

Thanks for the quick response. I had the extrude option selected first and then I stumbled on a 2023 thread where you recommended that we choose the “Full volume” option. I was just trying to see if that fixed the issue.

I sent you a message with attachments. Hope that’s what you were looking for. Thanks again!

Hi @sramas,

Thank you for sharing the model. The roofs are showing up as shades because you have exported them as shades separately. You can turn the shades off from the top right menu.

In order for the roofs to be resolved you need to make sure the rooms in the 3rd floor are set as Top Exposed.

I have yet to record a proper video for editing the roofs but in the case of your model it gets you mostly there after setting the room tops as exposed even without any edits.

Let me know if you have any questions.
