Windows are not showing up in the 3D preview

Dear pollination team,

I am facing some more issues with the exporting of a model. In first place, pollination does not recognize the windows I am using (maybe because they were tailor-made for our BEM projects). I set them to export, but I can’t see them on the window on the right side:

and I can’t see them in the Export Rooms window neither:

So that’s one big issue. I used other models and I could export windows, so I don’t think this is my problem, it must be the windows I am using. Here is a one storey version of the model in revit 2024 so you can see if you can find the issue:
25079_SWE_BARC_xx_R24_MEP_0001_onefloor.rte

Another issue that I’m facing is that I can’t seem to solve the issues with the geometry inside the Model Editor. I am facing the following prompt in Model Editor:

and when I see the issue in detail, I see a detail like the following:

the automatic aligning didn’t help, how else can i fix it? should I align them all to the grid for example? Any tutorial on that matter would be greatly appreciated.

ps. also found now this issue:

there is a microhole in the model over there which autoalign didn’t fix. how do I solve it?

Regards

Hi @pmcmm, thank you for sharing the file and documenting the issue carefully.I will check the Revit file shortly.

It’s expected for the Auto Align command not to fix all the issues. You can use Align and other commands in the Model Editor to fix the test of the issues. Can you share the PoMF with me? I can record a video and show you how to clean it up quickly.

hi @mostapha,

thanks for looking into it. Here is the problematic PoMF file, would be great if you could teach me how to clean it. That would be something to go into the documentation I believe

Hi @pmcmm,

The windows come through with no issues from what I can see testing it on my laptop.

The PoMF is easy to fix. I’ll record a video in an hour or so when I get behind my computer. The process for a model like this is straightforward. I’ll try to cover different approaches so you can learn about the different approaches/options to resolve the adjacency issues.

I guess you are using the Revit V3 for the testing, could that be a reason for the windows to show up in yours and not in mine? As I wrote, it works for other models, it just doesn’t work for this one…

Thanks in advance for the video, looking forward to see how you do it!

Hi Pedro (@pmcmm),

You’re right and this windows don’t show up in the Revit plugin classic as-is. I had to add a parameter to each material (whatever that means) for the materials to be identifiable by the Revit plugin. The rest of the process was straightforward.

Here is a recording that shows the process.

I’m also attaching the PoMF and GEM files for your reference.

Level 0.gem (58.6 KB)
Level 0.pomf (85.1 KB)

Here is some additional recommended clean up to remove all the small adjacency warnings that shows up in IESVE Model Report. They are not technically invalid, and the simulation should run fine with them but something that you could improve in your model.

Thank you again for sharing your model, and let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi @mostapha thanks a lot! Your videos are fantastic, it really helps to see how I can clean up a model. You should think about having such video in the documentation, I think you’re lacking some detailed info on how the model viewer works regarding model cleaning.
I will use this knowledge to clean up the entire model and to export it in IESVE. Will let you know if I find some more issues.
Have a great week!

Hi @pmcmm,

Yes. This is a fair comment. The challenge has been to find enough real world models that we can share as part of the documentation. I should probably start moving some of the examples that I helped the users on Discourse to documentation so people can learn from them.

There is just so much that I could show using the Revit sample models.
