Heads up! Our domains are changing from pollination.cloud to pollination.solutions

TLDR

We will be changing our domains from .cloud to .solutions soon and we want you to know about it in advance. There is nothing that you need to do at this point. We will make another announcement before making the change. Keep an eye out for the upcoming posts.

Hello :pollination: community,

Why

It has been a few years since we started building :pollination: Pollination. When we started the project, the main goal was to provide a scalable cloud simulation platform for the Ladybug Tools users. That’s why we chose the pollination.cloud domain. Over the years Pollination evolved to be much more. Cloud simulation became only one of the solutions offered by Pollination among other products including the popular Revit and Rhino plugins, and most recently the Model Editor.

Additionally, the .cloud domain has confused some of the new users and many of the IT teams. In several cases, we had to answer a couple of hundred cyber security questions before the company buys the Rhino and Revit licenses. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fortunately, we also own pollination.solutions among other domains, and we decided to switch our domains to it.

What do you need to do

In most cases, no action is required on your part. As part of the transition, we will redirect the .cloud domains to .solutions. In some cases, you might notice a redirect warning but otherwise, everything should work as is.

There is one exception. In case your company had to unblock the Pollination domains they will need to do it again for the new domains.

When will the change happen

If everything goes as planned, the change will happen at some point in the next month or so. We will make sure to over-communicate the changes by making another post on Discourse and sending out an email. We will also need to update our Terms of Service to reflect the change in the domains.

One more thing

I understand that there is no good time for changing domains but this is something that we have to do. We are doing our best to test everything before rolling out the changes to ensure no interruption in the services but we have also learned that there will always be some unknown. We will make sure that we have fallback solutions for anything that might go wrong, and we will fix any issues once reported.

As always, let us know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. We are always happy to answer your questions.

Happy Friday, and have a great weekend!
