Pollination Grasshopper Plugin Installs Rhino Plugin

I recently installed plugins_release_PollinationGHInstaller-1.52.12.exe and saw that it also installs the Pollination Rhino Plugin. I was expecting it to only install the former. In the Apps & Features on windows, it says Pollination Rhino Plugin.

Also, is this version of the the grasshopper plugin, compatible to run under the .Net Core mode of Rhino 8?

If yes, do I need to follow the steps outlined in this post to run it in Rhino 7 and Rhino 8 both?

Hi @dev,

That’s strange. I will try it on our end and see if I can recreate the issue. That said, we have been thinking of merging the two installers into one with the choice for users to deselect the Rhino plugin from being installed. Do you have any thoughts about that?

It should be compatible unless @mingbo says otherwise. And yes you should follow the installation steps to make sure the correct DLLs are loaded by Rhino 8.

I don’t have a strong opinion on having a common installer. However, I think it’s important that we have the capability to only install Grasshopper plugin.

Grasshopper plugin is something that we ship in our Rhino package. So it is installed on every machine where there is Rhino.

Any idea when can we have an installer that only installs the Grasshopper plugin and works with Rhino 8 .Net core?

Please also fix the name of the plugin.

Hi @dev,

Version 1.52.19 fixes the first issue. It is already released publicly.

This will be much more work. We might do it in the future, but it is not on top of our list right now.
